Loveland Officer Reunites Father And Daughter

For the first time in more than 31 years, Donna Whalen celebrated the holidays with her biological father - thanks to a Loveland policeman.

Whalen, who lives in the Colerain area, said she tried unsuccessfully to find her father at a Loveland address she had for him and decided to go to the Loveland police station Nov. 11 to file a missing person's report.

Officer Kyle Bibelhausen told Whalen the situation didn't qualify as a missing person case.

But, "He told me that he would be willing to take the initiative and do a little research of his own and see if he could assist in finding my dad," Whalen said.

"(Bibelhausen) warned me that he could not provide me with any information about (my dad), but he said he would be happy to pass my contact information on to him if he could locate him.

"About 30 minutes after leaving the police station I got a call from my father," Whalen said. "I had not heard or seen him in more than 31 years, and all of the sudden my life changed because (Bibelhausen) went above and beyond what his job requirements were and helped a stranger."  Read More
