Got Drugs?

The Loveland Police Division  is coordinating a one-day collaborative effort with both the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Loveland Kroger to remove potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications  from resident's homes. The National Take Back Initiative will be held on April 28th from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. outside the Loveland Kroger located at  800 Loveland Madeira Road.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health there are more Americans abusing prescription medications than the number of cocaine, heroin and hallucinogen abusers combined. These expired, unused and unwanted medications are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. Studies indicate that the majority of abused prescription medications are obtained from family and friends.

Controlled, non- controlled and Over The Counter substances will be collected. Participants will be able to dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its original container. If an original container is submitted, please remove and shred any identifying information on the label  from the bottle. Any solid dosage pharmaceutical product or liquid in a consumer container will be accepted. Liquid products should remain in their original containers. Intra-venous solutions, injectable and syringes will NOT be accepted.

The program is free of charge.

No questions or requests for identification will be made. You will remain anonymous.

If you have questions about the program please contact  Detective Burch or Officer Caudell at 583-3000 or via e-mail at bburch@safety-center or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
